ABNN Webinar: Attracting & Retaining Nonprofit Talent with a Group Retirement Plan

SEPTEMBER 14 | 10:00 - 11:00 AM | ZOOM

Like many leaders in the sector, you may be struggling to attract and retain talent and keep them engaged. In the past, employers have seen group retirement plans as a nice-to-have benefit. But the pandemic has changed that.

Join ABNN and Common Good in this webinar to find out why a group retirement plan can help your nonprofit address recruiting and retention challenges and provide employees with greater long-term financial security. In this webinar, you’ll learn why retirement benefits have become a priority for employees and job-seekers, and how much value a good workplace retirement plan creates for employees. You’ll also learn about the Common Good Plan, a modern TFSA and RRSP plan designed for the nonprofit sector.

Future of Good: Reverse Mentoring in Social Impact

Apply today to be mentored by a young leader!

Young leaders are doing game-changing work every day in the social impact space. With their lived experience and unique generational insights, they shine a light on what the sector needs as it moves forward. But to do their impactful work, they need the support of senior-level leaders in their organizations.

Building on the success of last year’s reverse mentoring event, Future of Good is inviting senior-level leaders over the age of 40 to participate in this year’s program. As an established leader, your participation will play an invaluable role in driving conversations about supporting change in the sector for the next generation of leaders.

For more information or to apply, visit the Future of Good website. Applications are being accepted until Friday, September 23, with the virtual event taking place on October 18.

Investing in Indigenous philanthropy through reciprocity
The Philanthropist

Values of gifting, sharing, and caring are deeply ingrained across Indigenous cultures. These generations-old traditions of reciprocity, mutual responsibility, and respect can inform much of the work of modern philanthropy. This is why The Circle on Philanthropy (The Circle) and the Mastercard Foundation are partnering with Indigenous-led organizations to support and strengthen Indigenous-led approaches to philanthropy that align with Indigenous values and cultures, as well as Indigenous self-determination.

This is part of a growing movement across North America toward trust-based philanthropy, an approach that seeks to transform the relationships between philanthropic organizations and non-profits by identifying systemic inequalities and addressing inherent power imbalances. In an Indigenous context, a trust-based approach centres Indigenous leadership, knowledge, and expertise; it means creating partnerships with Indigenous-led organizations and Indigenous communities to harness the resources and supports they need to meet complex local challenges and maximize impact. Remarks from Canadian Charities and Nonprofits on Digital Innovation and Transformation
Imagine Canada

Every sector has experienced some form of disruption during the pandemic due to the exponential growth of technological adoption. While the nonprofit sector contributes 8.3% to Canada’s GDP, the sector has the country’s largest gap in the adoption and use of digital technologies. Unlike business, the nonprofit sector does not receive dedicated innovation supports from the federal government.

As a key partner in the delivery of services to Canadians around the country including those in underserved communities the government of Canada needs a strong nonprofit sector. Investments in technology will result in improved service delivery, allowing more individuals to be reached. The nonprofit sector needs the government to provide long-term investment and support for digital innovation. In this report, Imagine Canada presents findings from nonprofit stakeholders in a qualitative data analysis to shed light on the trends and patterns that have emerged in the sector. Read more →
