In-Depth Alberta Budget Analysis for Nonprofits

CCVO has released our in-depth analysis of Budget 2022, with a focus on what this budget means for nonprofits in the province. In relation to Alberta’s nonprofits, the focus is on debt elimination and maintaining status quo. The budget signals that the nonprofit sector is not considered a part of the plan for recovery moving forward. Instead, they are expected to fit into other programs and services that are available, compete for funding using valuable resources, or continue to operate with reduced or unchanged funding amounts while delivering high-quality support to individuals and communities to meet the growing needs of Albertans and their families. Read the full analysis here.

Budget 2022-23 is not a budget that supports community recovery or that recognizes investment in community prosperity as an important part of Alberta’s economic recovery, which CCVO included in the recommendations in our 2022 pre-budget submission. Moving forward, CCVO is continuing to press for investment in community recovery that will support community-focused recovery through sound investment in social infrastructure that will create jobs, spur economic stimulus, and equally support those in need.
