Changes to New Horizons for Seniors Program in Response to COVID-19

There have been several changes to the New Horizons for Seniors Program (NHSP) in response to the ongoing pandemic. On May 12, the Government of Canada announced that they would invest an additional $20 million in the New Horizons for Seniors Program. This investment will provide more funding to community organizations working to reduce isolation and improve quality of life for seniors.

Other changes are also in place to support NHSP recipients. Recipients of 2019-2020 NHSP community-based grants may now use their approved funding for any activities related to supporting seniors during the COVID-19 pandemic, regardless of the nature of the project approved originally. Recipients may also use their funding to support other community organizations in carrying out such activities.

Additionally, the deadline for the Final Report from 2018-2019 NHSP community-based grant recipients has been extended to December 31, 2020.

All NHSP recipients are asked to contact their funding representative if their project is affected by COVID-19.
