Prime Minister’s 2019 Cabinet Revealed

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau unveiled his new cabinet on November 20, two weeks before Parliament reconvenes. The new cabinet has seven new members appointed and ministries that reflect Liberal Party policy priorities, including: fighting climate change, boosting the middle class, and Indigenous reconciliation.

Chrystia Freeland has been named the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs, tasked with fostering productive relationships with the Provinces and the United States. The appointment of a Deputy Prime Minister has only occurred ten times in Canadian history, and this is the first time for Prime Minister Trudeau.

Cabinet Minister, Jim Carr, has been appointed the special representative for the Prairie provinces to address to ensure that the people of Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba have a strong voice in Ottawa.
