Scotiabank Launches ScotiaRISE to Help Build Economic Resilience

Scotiabank has launched ScotiaRISE, a 10-year, $500 million initiative to promote economic resilience among disadvantaged groups. ScotiaRISE will support and invest in organizations that help people improve their education and employment prospects, adapt to changing circumstances, and increase the likelihood of financial success.

ScotiaRISE will invest in three focus areas across geographies where Scotiabank operates to “create more inclusive, resilient communities”:

  1. Education: Increase high school graduation rates and post-secondary enrollment to increase employment prospects and the ability to thrive and succeed.

  2. Inclusion: Help newcomers secure meaningful employment and feel at home faster, in order to contribute to the economy and their community to their fullest potential.

  3. Employment: Remove barriers to career advancement for disadvantaged or underrepresented groups which could include groups such as women, people of colour, people living with disabilities, and others to enable their financial success.

ScotiaRISE is open to registered charities and nonprofits that can prove a “sustained record of achievement” through programs with measurable impact. The initiative will not consider religious groups, unless they are willing to provide secular services to all; advocacy groups; political organizations; or lobbying activities.
