Canadian Centre for Nonprofit Digital Resilience

Launched at the end of March, the Canadian Centre for Nonprofit Digital Resilience (CCNDR) supports a digitally-enabled nonprofit sector, where Canada’s diverse nonprofits use data and tech to advance their mission and multiply their impact. The effective use of technology combined with strong digital leadership and capacity can help nonprofits reach their clients and funders more easily – but nonprofits that want to make the digital leap find themselves with only limited and uncoordinated support.

Through CCVO's work on community recovery, we identified digital transformation as a priority area for investment in the nonprofit sector, included in our 2022 pre-budget submission. Support for digital transformation and resilience, helping organizations increase the reach and scope of their programs and services, will be a crucial step in community recovery. The Centre helps nonprofits adopt new technologies by galvanizing people and mobilizing funding to support impactful initiatives, convening diverse experts across sectors, and prioritizing ideas that can make a broad impact and deliver real progress. Learn more here.

New members appointed to the Advisory Committee on the Charitable Sector
On April 5, the Honourable Diane Lebouthillier, Minister of National Revenue, announced the appointment of nine new members to the Advisory Committee on the Charitable Sector (ACCS). The Advisory Committee on the Charitable Sector (ACCS) is a consultative forum for the Government of Canada to engage in meaningful dialogue with the charitable sector, to advance emerging issues relating to charities, and to ensure the regulatory environment supports the important work that charities do. The incoming members begin their two-year terms with the committee on May 1, 2022 and will join six current ACCS members, whose terms are ongoing. Please visit the ACCS web page to view the full membership and their biographies. CCVO would like to congratulate and welcome all the new committee members, including Bob Wyatt, Executive Director of The Muttart Foundation, a long-time core supporter of our organization’s work.

New infographics show nonprofit sector by the numbers in every region
Imagine Canada recently released infographics about the nonprofit sector in every province and territory. They include key statistics about everything from employment to volunteerism and how the sector is funded. Up-to-date data about the nonprofit sector facilitates a deeper understanding of how the sector contributes to Canadian society. It also allows the sector to better demonstrate our impact, plan for workforce needs and advocate for change. These infographics, created as an initiative of the Federal Data Working Group, can be used to showcase the impact of the nonprofit sector, whether to governments, funders or other stakeholders. Five Essential Roles for the Nonprofit Strategic Planning Process by Prosper Strategies
Involving the right people, in the right ways, at the right times, is the most difficult part of the strategic planning process for most nonprofits. While the Board plays an important role in strategic planning, there are four other groups that should be part of the process, and those roles need to be spelled out early and often. If they’re not, organizations tend to face unnecessary friction in the strategic planning process that keeps them from arriving efficiently at a clear set of pillars (aka priorities) and objectives. Read more →

The Five Rs of Grant Writing: Tips for Creating Compelling Applications by CharityVillage
