Funding Survey

CCVO is charting a course to secure appropriate funding that will help stabilize Alberta’s nonprofit sector - and we’ll get further if we get specific about our funding priorities. We invite you to share what you would do with new funding.

Would you...

  • Grow existing programs?

  • Diversify programming?

  • Improve DEI practices?

Your responses will be used to inform funders, governments, and other stakeholders about sector priorities and help make recommendations on how to best allocate funding dollars.

This survey is open to nonprofits of all sizes across Alberta. If you have an understanding of your organization's daily operations, your participation in this survey is crucial!

Thank you in advance for your time and expertise!

The deadline to complete the survey is June 30.

The Critical Role of Cultural Responsiveness in Today’s Nonprofits
Danielle Nava-Mijares, Blue Avocado

Culturally responsive leadership understands the cultural heritage and nuances of clients, employees, and communities. Culturally responsive leaders strive to have a broader, global perspective. These leaders are aware of their own values, commitments, beliefs, and prejudices as well as the way they utilize their power and influence. In this awareness, they are not afraid to question themselves.

Such leadership requires personal bravery: in the pursuit of learning, one must risk being a naïve offender, accepting that you are not an expert though you might be in a position of power. Culturally responsive leaders are committed to continuous learning and addressing any service delivery gaps or inequities. Such constant learning may — and probably even should — reveal systems of inequity and oppression. Read More→

When It Comes to Data, Nonprofits Should Look at the Present to Find Their Future
Daniel Liadsky, The Philanthropist Journal

No one can accuse the sector of being cutting edge when it comes to data and technology, so we do not need to be prescient; we can simply look at what other industries are doing now for this glimpse into our future. I think of my dentist’s office, which allows me to book appointments online, sends me text message reminders and post-appointment surveys, and remembers when it is time for the next set of X-rays. The digital tools that facilitate these interactions not only improve the service-user experience, but they offer effective ways to collect and use data. Many of these tools are low-cost, relatively easy to implement, and can sit beside existing information systems – they should be commonplace in the nonprofit sector, yet adoption has been slow. Read More→
